British Council International School Award success for Maricourt Catholic High School

 

Maricourt Catholic High School in Maghull, Liverpool has been awarded Foundation level of the British Council’s prestigious International School Award in recognition of its work to bring the world into the classroom.

 

The International School Award celebrates the achievements of schools that do exceptional work in international education. Fostering an international dimension in the curriculum is at the heart of the British Council’s work with schools, so that young people gain the cultural understanding and skills they need for life and work in today’s world.

 

Maricourt’s international work includes Supporting the work at St Raphael’s School in Sierra Leone

 

On hearing the news that Maricourt Catholic High School had achieved Foundation level of the award, Eddie Varey Deputy Headteacher said: “We have had a long standing relationship with St Raphael’s for 10 years, and we continue to plan visits to the school. Our teachers attend the school and teach a variety of lessons and share ideas. We hope we can take students again like we have in the past, as this is a life changing opportunity for many of them. It also allows our students to live out our mission statement and contribute to improving lives around the world”

The award is now available worldwide in countries such as India, Greece, Egypt, Lebanon, Nigeria, and Pakistan. Around 6,000 International School Awards have been presented to successful schools in the UK since the scheme began in 1999.
