Safeguarding

Maricourt Catholic High School fully recognises its responsibilities for child protection.

"Maricourt seeks to provide and sustain a living Catholic community which is rooted in Christian values and where growth and knowledge, respect, love and fellowship are shared by all."

The Governors and staff of Maricourt recognise our moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all pupils. We endeavour to provide a safe and welcoming environment where children are respected and valued. We are alert to the signs of abuse and neglect and follow our procedures to ensure that children receive effective support, protection and justice.

"The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. There is a strong culture of safeguarding at the school.Leaders are quick to identify when pupils need additional help or are at risk of harm. Staff work well with a range of other agencies to provide support for pupils and their families". Ofsted 2022

The school has a series of policy and procedures which forms its integrated safeguarding portfolio. The links for the Child Protection and Safeguarding policies can be found at the bottom of this page.

Our Safeguarding Principles at Maricourt are as follows:
  • The welfare of the child is paramount
  • All children, regardless of age, gender, ability, culture, race, language, religion or sexual identity, have equal rights to protection
  • All staff have an equal responsibility to act on any suspicion or disclosure that may suggest a child is at risk of harm
  • Pupils and staff involved in child protection issues will receive appropriate support
