Zoe O'Gara

From a young age, being a nurse has always been what I wanted to do and my path to this began at Holy Rosary, with my favourite subjects being English and Science.

I then went on to Maricourt Catholic High School and I loved it there. I enjoyed all of my subjects and with the support of my teachers who encouraged and inspired me, I then stayed on in Sixth form. There I studied English Literature & language to continue my love for writing, along with Biology, Health and Psychology as I have a passion for healthcare & science and these subjects combined gave me the confidence to pursue my dream.

I continued my path to Edge Hill University where I Studied Children’s Nursing and learnt so much in my 3 years. This gave me the knowledge and confidence to apply for a job as a Staff nurse at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London. Now, 5 years on, enjoy my next chapter as a Band 6, Senior Staff Nurse for Neurosciences and all the challenges this brings. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else, caring for the sickest children and giving them hope for the future.

My message to young people deciding on a future career is never let anyone tell you that you can’t do something. Believe in yourself and choose something you love to do because you really won’t ever have to work a day in your life… I don’t!
