What did you want to be when you were younger?

To work in the food and beverage industry

St George’s Catholic Primary, Maghull

What did you study in school?

 

Food Technology, IT, English, Maths and BTEC Science

What were your favourite subjects

Food Technology was my favourite subject as I had enjoyed making new products and learning new skills.

What did you enjoy most about Maricourt Catholic High School?

Whilst in Maricourt, I enjoyed taking part in the many sports on offer in particular cross country. I also enjoyed the several trips we got involved in.

What did you study in Sixth form?

What have you been doing since leaving school?

Since leaving Maricourt I have gained a 4 in both my English and Maths GCSE and am now fully qualified in Hospitality Management. I am now studying a BA Hons in Events Management at Liverpool John Moores University. I also work on a casual basis for Liverpool FC and the Jockey Club delivering food and beverage at prestigious events all-round the country.

What advice would you give to our students to inspire them?

Talk to people if you feel you are struggling, revise hard for exams even on subjects that may not appear on any mock exams, revise together so everybody gets an understanding of the subject.

What is a typical day in work for you in your career?

Depending on where I work, I will get to Liverpool to pick up a coach which will take me to the venue, I organize my section ensuring the customers tables have everything they require and check if they have made any pre orders of drinks or there are any allergens I need to be made aware of. If any allergens, I will then liaise with the head chef to find out the alternative menu.

What is the most rewarding part of your job, please state your reasons for this?

The most rewarding part of my job is meeting new people. I always enjoy meeting new people as I want to leave a lasting impression on them in the hope they return.

My message to young people deciding on a future career is?

Never doubt your own ability, always believe in yourself and ask questions all the time. (I am still learning every day!).
