Daniel Price

 

Daniel Joseph Price was born and raised in Maghull, and attended St George’s Primary school from 1997-2005, and Maricourt High School from 2005-2010. In high school, Daniel enjoyed science and mathematics and was very happy to receive 10 A*s in his final GCSE examinations. Daniel also enjoyed Rugby, Performing Arts and Music whilst in Maricourt. After completing his GCSE examinations, Daniel and his family moved to Shanghai, in China, for an exciting opportunity. In Shanghai, Daniel attended Dulwich College International School, and completed his International Baccalaureate Diploma. Daniel’s results in the IB diploma were in the top 1% of students globally. After his time in Shanghai, Daniel moved back to the UK to study at the University of Leeds. Continuing his love for science, Daniel studied medicinal chemistry- which is all about how to discover and make new medicines. Daniel’s studies in Leeds resulted in a research project focused on design and development of new cancer-treating medications. In 2012, Daniel graduated top of the class from the University of Leeds with a 1st class bachelor and master’s degree in medicinal chemistry. Daniel’s work in Leeds resulted in him receiving two prestigious awards. Firstly, he received the Craig Jordan Prize for most impactful University of Leeds research project. Secondly, Daniel was one of 5 chemistry students nationwide to receive the Salters’ Prize, which is awarded each year to the top-5 chemistry students across the country with the highest potential to impact the global chemical industry. After graduating from the University of Leeds, Daniel moved to Merck in Germany to complete his PhD in pharmaceutical technology. Daniel’s research focused on improving how medicines are taken up inside our body, resulting in more powerful medications, that require smaller tablet sizes. Over the past 5 years, Daniel has published 15 scientific papers. Daniel completed his PhD in 2019 and will receive his doctorate from Frankfurt Goethe University in 2020. Since 2019, Daniel has been working full-time in Merck Life Science. Daniel is currently a senior manager there, responsible for innovation and strategy topics. In the future, Daniel hopes to develop into an executive management role within the life science industry.
