I was fortunate to study at Maricourt High School until 2007, gaining the solid foundation in basic sciences (and more importantly, hard work) needed to allow me to pursue a career in medicine. Since leaving school, I have been honoured to study medicine at UCL, work and study at the University of Oxford, and I now work in the Emergency Department at Yale New Haven Hospital, in the United States, with some detours for additional training/studying in South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Vietnam, Tunisia, Switzerland, and the Shetland Islands (!). To any Maricourt students thinking of pursuing a similar path (and indeed to any students anywhere) I would encourage you to start reaching out early to people who can advise and guide you (nobody can be successful without help!), to work as hard as you can (this really is the key). By being at Maricourt, you already have access to a wonderfully supportive and knowledgeable body of teachers and alumni. Good luck!
