Trips
We have a wide range of trips both, locally, nationally, and internationally for all year groups across all subject areas. We are passionate about enriching cultural awareness and constantly explore opportunities to give students the chance to enrich their learning journey beyond the classroom. Subjects organise numerous visits to enable students to apply their learning in the outside world and help foster the aspiration for lifelong learning.
To participate in our residential trips, overseas trips and reward trips we ensure we are fair and consistent in our selection criteria. We want our students involved in such trips to have met the following criteria:
- 75% Behaviour Threshold in lessons (see Class Charts)
- 95% attendance to school (school will obviously look at exceptional cases e.g. medical conditions/injuries etc)
- No truancy from lessons
- No missed detentions.
Educational visits and school trips:
Physical education and sport are a key strength of what Maricourt has to offer. Through the extensive range of both individual and team sports you can guarantee that the PE department will foster, encourage and promote the development of any sports discipline. We have a long history of sporting achievements at both local, county and national level and compete in a wide variety of sports. Our annual sports awards evening held at the prestigious Aintree Racecourse celebrates and showcases the high quality and brilliance of our young people’s successes.
Annual trips both locally, nationally and internationally allows for cultural development and an appreciation for the sporting contributions worldwide. There is the oversubscribed year 9 and 10 annual ski trip to the Italian Alps. We offer a year 8 & 9 football development tour to the incredible Football Salou campus in Spain. Our past international football tours include residential visits to Borussia Dortmund, Benfica, Ajax, Feyenoord, Villarreal and in the North- East at Newcastle, Sunderland and Middlesbrough. On these trips students get trained by club coaches, play fixtures against local teams, enjoy a stadium tour and watch a live match at some incredible stadiums. Girls also have the opportunity to join the bi-annual netball tour that takes place at Euro Disney. Here our girls enjoy coaching sessions with England netball stars and play in a huge tournament as well as having time to enjoy the park. More recently we have been fortunate to secure tickets for the Wimbledon Tennis championships and take pupils who attend Tennis club to experience a Grand Slam tournament live. Finally, our Dance staff also run a number of trips off site as well as bringing in visiting professionals to experience the size and scale of big stage productions.
University visits, industry days, college taster days, competitions at local and national level in Mathematics and Computing competitions, enables our students to thrive and realise that there are no personal limits to their success.
“I loved it at Maricourt because the teachers always pushed me to reach my potential and there were so many opportunities to get involved with such as dance clubs, careers talks and events and trips and holidays (such as Alton towers, York, London, Spain, Italy and New York)”
