I went to Maricourt Sixth Form Centre because I knew the quality of teaching and support I could expect and thoroughly enjoyed my two years at Sixth Form. I also received support with things such as completing my personal statement, getting relevant work experience needed for my university course and learning transferable skills. Because of this, I was successful in getting into University. I would not have been able to reach this goal without the support from my teachers and peers - Zoe 2020(past student)
There is dedicated time to focus on enrichment opportunities. This gives students the chance to gain an understanding of the local labour market, enhance their CV and develop employability and enterprise skills. It also helps develop character and gives students a chance to take time away from their everyday studies as well as promoting students understanding of modern day issues through exploring British values, citizenship and political behaviours.
The Enrichment Programme focuses on keeping safe and how to lead a healthy lifestyle - this includes the importance of exercise, diet, healthy relationships, sexual consent, dealing with the pressures of social media and diversity in society. We have a focus on making transitions easily, having a positive mindset and how to deal with feeling of stress and anxiety. Students will be confident in areas such as student and personal finance.
Students can choose an enrichment course that interests them, such as, Oxbridge programme, Teachers of Tomorrow, Sports Leaders Award, Introduction to Forensic Science, Duke of Edinburgh & Hobbies and interests.

Work Experience
During Year 12, as part of the 6th Form Work Related Learning (WRL) curriculum, students have the opportunity to experience the world of work first hand. This is managed and co-ordinated by the school and students are encouraged to source their own work experience placements. This offers them more flexibility and choice in what they want to do and what skills they would like to learn during placements. This experience is a part of what we call in school Work Related Learning – ‘about work, for work, through work’. This is an excellent opportunity to engage in an area of interest and learn new skills.
Enrichment
During Year 12 as part of your timetable in addition to your academic subjects you will attend enrichment lessons. This is a great opportunity to develop your personal development skills and study skills to prepare you for applications, personal statements and UCAS entries. You will also have a variety of talks from guest speakers in addition to being part of the annual upcycle main fashion event of the year whilst also engaging in a range of opportunities delivered by our external partners Shaping Futures. In addition to this you will also get to choose an enrichment subject to explore. This academic year 2021 -2022, enrichment options on offer for Year 12 students to choose are Oxbridge programme, Teachers of Tomorrow, Sports Leaders Award, Introduction to Forensic Science, Duke of Edinburgh & Hobbies and interests.
Mock Interviews
During Year 13 all students are offered the opportunity of a mock interview with an employer in a field / industry of choice by the students. This is co-ordinated by the Careers Leader who will match up the students interests with an employer and arrange the interview. This is a great opportunity for students to get first hand experience of an interview with an employer and to ask further questions about their areas of interest. Employers also complete feedback for the students to review.
