Computing and ICT
The mission of the ICT department is to equip our students with practical and useful ICT skills that will prepare them for further study and a range of careers. We strive to keep up to date with modern technological advances and offer our students real life, marketable skills that will enhance their learning across other subjects and will give them confidence in using a broad range of ICT skills and concepts.

Key Stage 3

We introduce the students to a range of different skills including file management, spreadsheet, database, production of sound and video, web design and documents publishing. Students also get ample opportunity to develop their programming skills through modules including computer game development, computer control and application development. We deliver a module on e-safety to teach our students about the dangers of the internet, how to recognise and prevent these dangers and this theme is reinforced throughout the delivery of our curriculum as a whole.

Key Stage 4

The students have the opportunity to develop their base skills in further detail and develop expertise in using a range of software applications including Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Macromedia Fireworks, Macromedia Flash, Macromedia Dreamweaver, MatchWare Mediator.

Sixth Form

Our students are afforded the opportunity to develop ICT skills to a professional level in preparation for further education or employment in industry. Modules are designed around developing proficiency in skills such as web development, corporate ICT, communication skills, project management, networks, multimedia design and development. All of these are highly transferable skills to offer our young people the best possible chance to compete in the current market. Pupils learn how to produce professional documentation for business purposes, including letters, brochures, business cards, flyers, leaflets and posters and create multimedia presentations, radio adverts and animated banners for websites. They also learn how to create software applications using programming languages and apps for mobile phone.
