Dublin Trip 2019
During October half term 8 of our Sixth Form history students attended our annual History trip to Dublin. The trip supported the Irish History course we study in Year 13. Whilst there the students Visited Kilmainham Gaol an important part of nationalist/republican history as the leaders of the 1916 Easter rising where held and executed there, along with Charles Parnell and Robert Emmett also important figures in the development of nationalist movements in Ireland.

We also visited and had a guided tour of the GPO from which the 1916 rising was led. We visited Collins Barracks which is now the Museum of Ireland, Trinity College and Dublin Castle as well as a tour of the city.

On the Saturday we also visited Baggot Street the original home of the Sisters of Mercy and were given a tour of the history of the centre and the life of the venerable Catherine McAuley. The students were a credit to the school and everybody had a great time, either taking in the history of Dublin or shopping and enjoying some free time. The Dublin marathon didnt manage to get in our way too much.
